Talk-Concord Library

In this talk at the Concord Public Library, New Hampshire photographer Becky Field will share her experiences documenting immigrant communities. Her long-term project, Different Roots, Common Dreams: New Hampshire’s Cultural Diversity, started because of an act of hate. In 2011 and 2012, malicious and racist graffiti was scrawled on the sides of four refugee homes in Concord, NH, homes of families who had fled violence to seek a safe home here. Becky decided then to use her camera to show the diversity in our communities, to honor immigrants’ contributions, and to stimulate public understanding of immigration and refugee resettlement.

Join us for images of the vibrant cultural diversity in our communities, along with an overview of resettlement programs and the history of immigration in New Hampshire.
