Different Roots, Common Dreams
New Hampshire’s Cultural Diversity
In Different Roots, Common Dreams, photographer Becky Field has documented the vitality and diversity of New Hampshire’s newest Americans – families at home, children at play, workplaces, weddings, funerals, and sacred ceremonies. The book has won two national awards!
Portraits and Memories of Immigrant
Finding Home is a celebration of people from other countries who have resettled in New Hampshire. She transcribed the memories of 40 immigrants of life in the home country and the journey to find a new life. The immigrants’ stories and Becky’s photographs show the beauty and vitality of cultural diversity that contributes to all our communities.
Different Roots, Common Dreams Scholarship Fund
Since 2012, NH photographer Becky Field has documented the lives of immigrant and refugee families in the state to share their rich cultural diversity and honor their contributions to our communities. A former university professor, Becky noticed the strong emphasis these families put on education. Yet students who excelled in high school often lack the financial resources to complete a four-year degree. So Becky partnered with the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to establish the Different Roots, Common Dreams Scholarship Fund to help those of any age who came to New Hampshire as refugees or immigrants and want to pursue a four-year undergraduate degree.
