Talk: Different Roots, Common Dreams

This is a reception and informal talk in the Main Lobby of the Redfern Arts Center with Becky Field about her photography exhibit, Different Roots, Common Dreams.

Following her 6:30 pm talk will be an original theatre production at 7:30 pm of Babylon (Journeys of Refugees) by Sandglass Theater, exploring the stories of refugees seeking asylum in the United States. Babylon uses puppetry as a vehicle for personal testimony about displacement, flight, and resettlement among refugees, investigating questions of “home” and relationship-building between refugees and their neighbors. Each new wave of immigrants to the United States brings new perspectives, traditions, and art, which add to the evolving cultural tapestry of America.

Taken together, the performance and exhibit amplify a variety of voices, viewpoints and cultural experiences.
